Knitting Groups To Check Out on Ravelry, Flickr and Facebook
There are lots of groups for knitters and crocheters, so many that it can get overwhelming. Joining Ravelry, and other websites like Flickr and Facebook, is only the beginning. Separating the good groups from the bad can be daunting and frustrating. Here are a few groups to check out.

This group has a presence on Ravelry and on Flickr. It is a “ non-traditional” group for knitters and crocheters who like to modify patterns. It’s a place to show off with unique mash-ups and reveal “your knack for knitty ingenuity.” Like this “hand machine knit neck warmer with sparkling yarn!” by mandalinarossa. “It has orange polar lining to keep you warm. It’s great for biking, skiing and cold days in general”

Knit Picks is a great one to *like* on Facebook. Every Friday they post a Freebie Friday, they also have yarn reviews, giveaways, in formation on sales conversations and opportunities for you to give your opinion. They also have a group on Flickr called the Knits in Knitpicks. Knits in Knitpicks featurs yarns, patterns and anything else from Knitpicks.com. It’s a place where members share their projects made with knitpicks products, like the Swallowtail Shawl by Evelyn A. Clark shown in the picture posted by TartanHearts. The downside of the Facebook group is its run for the purpose to promote KnitPicks.com, the Flickr group is more member focused.

Hall of Shame
Hall of Shame on Ravelry is a place to post projects that have failed. Knitting and crocheting is full of mistakes, blunders and embarrassing moments. This group is a place to vent and share the shameful projects and tell sob stories. Get support from other knitters and laugh off the mistakes. Members share accidents, disasters and absurd “I can’t believe that happened” moments. There are only a few hundred members of this group, but it might be the best group on Ravelry and a very healthy place to find moral support.
